Rain or Shine…

0

Hey Everyone! Hope your Monday went well.  It’s nice to have that day under our belt.  Sometimes I feel Mondays can drag on and on while I’m at work…

Anyways – I have a card to share with you today! I didn’t get a chance to get any crafty time, so I thought I would pull out an older card that I did.

The stamps I used are from Unity Stamp Co (both the couple behind the umbrella and the quote) from one of the older monthly kits.  I colored the stamp in using Lumiere Metallic Paints (LOVE these!!).  I typically use these paints in my mixed media art, but I thought it would be fun to try it out on a stamped imaged. There’s a crazy amount of shimmer to these paints that you can kind of see from the pictures.  Pick some up and give them a try!

You can see how much I love them :) These are stored in my revamped medicine cabinets I purchased for a steal on Craigslist a couple years ago (bought 2 – the other stores acrylic paint).  Keep a lookout for great storage ideas you wouldn’t typically think of!  :)

Have a great rest of the night everyone and see you soon!

Just the girls….

We have a 9 month old adorable Alaskan Malamute puppy that is the second love of my life (she falls behind my hubby of course).  She’s our first dog and has been so much fun, but definitely a handful!

This is Kira, our baby girl, sitting on the floor in my craft room just chillin with momma (please excuse the crazy amount of hair on the rug, she’s a shedder!)

Things I love about my sweet little girl…

She’s a momma’s girl through and through

She’s crafty too!! Takes after her mom :) She loves to be with me in my craft room and a lot of times sits behind with me on my chair. It’s pretty cute actually because she’ll sit behind me on the seat and rest her head on my shoulder while I’m on my computer :) She’s about 65 lbs and still growing so you can imagine how much room I get in my seat…

She’s my little shadow

She’s so spunky and sassy and loves to talk back! Which is cute almost all the time, besides when you tell her to do something and people are watching, lol…

She’s the first thing I see when I walk in the door and is ALWAYS happy to see me. There’s nothing like a greeting from an animal that has been waiting for you :) Makes coming home one of the biggest highlights of my day

Everyone who has pets knows where I’m coming from when I say they are just amazing to have in your life! We don’t have any children yet, so our puppy is our baby.  She’s the sweetest little thing, I’m sure you’ll see and here more about her!

I would love to hear about your pets and any cute stories you would like to share.  Have a wonderful rest of the evening everyone!

Washi tape looooovee

0

Here’s the project I promised!  My first entry in my SMASH! book, so excited to finally start playing with it!  You’ll see I used it at the bottom right side of the pic (layered 3 different tapes) and then a little at the top left.

I whipped this page up real quick, but this is the little boy I used to watch full-time.  Oskie doodle – the cutest little guy ever! Couldn’t part ways completely after 3 years together, so I still have him at least once a week; gotta get my Oskie fill! It’s kind of hard to see, but he’s jamming out to some of his music on his headphones :) — I actually went in after I took this pic and added a journaling spot above the grouping of washi tape. I felt the page was a little boring and needed that extra something, plus it explains the headphones which is hard to see in the picture.

Don’t you just LOVE those big squishy cheeks?!!

Here are the supplies I used on this page but you can easily use whatever you have on hand.  Remember, it’s suppose to be quick and easy! The beauty of the Smash book is you can through all your stuff together and not have to think, just do! The green on the left-hand side is actually the inside of the cover; it kind of looks like part of the page from the quick pic I took…

Supplies:

  • 7 Gypsies stickers (the journal sticker and the 3 circles) from the Zanzibar collection.
  • Washi tape of course!
  • American Crafts ribbon – attempted to do a quick pleat/gather to create some dimension; also folded over a small piece and stapled together
  • American Crafts rub-ons from the Trademarks booklet in the Jack collection, color brown
  • Packaging from an Etsy purchase rolled up and stapled – looks like Tim Holtz’s Kraft Glassine (which I have but still have played with!!)

Hope you guys enjoy my page that shows just a wee bit of my loooooovee of washi tape!

Happiness is…

It’s been so long since I’ve done a post that I told myself I just had to sit down and start typing!  No more trying to “plan” for everything, it’s time to just start doing!

So here I am on a Wednesday evening super excited to get back onto my blog!  I’ve been anxious to write but I’ve been having a hard time getting to my computer (which makes blogging pretty difficult…)  What immediately came to mind when I sat down was these awesome little goodies that sit right in front of me on my desk. These bright and fun spools make me sooo happy :)

What’s on those normal looking spools you ask??? Why, it’s Washi tape!  I know, I know, it’s been one of the biggest craaaazes lately but I’m hooked! Once I bought the Pink Paislee ones at Archivers awhile ago I had to start looking online for more colors.  I found a great seller on Etsy, LeboxBoutique, so head over and check out her sweet stash of goodies!  The ones in the basket above are from her shop.

I have some more from a different seller on Etsy that are on their way from Thailand, with some CrAzy adorable patterns, that I’m SUPER excited about! I’ll share those when they get in :)

Let me know what fun stuff you like to create with Washi Tape! I would love to hear everyone else’s tips and tricks for these adorable embellishments.  I’m working on a project that uses a handful of the tapes pictured above, so check back to see what it is!

Cute Token Box

0

Happy Sunday everyone!  I have a cute little token box to share with you.  I made this to fit a tiny album inside, but haven’t done the album yet.  I might just use it for storing goodies in since the pages are super small!  I got this wooden box from Michaels and it came unfinished.  I first put a coat of gesso all over the box.  I then traced out the sides, and top with the patterned paper I had chosen.  I painted the inside with acrylic paint and used some molding paste to give it some dimension.  After everything was dry I glued down the paper and did some fussy-cutting of some of the images. You can see those on the sides of the box, along with the “gorgeous” on the top.  I also used one of the flowers I cut out from the paper on the knob and covered it with glossy accents.  I then just started attaching my embellishments.

I’ll have a list of the supplies I used in case you’re interested in doing your own.  I think it turned out cute and has a girly feel to it :) .  Let me know what you guys think and if you have any questions!

Supply List:

  • Unfinished wooden box
  • Scissors – a small detailed pair will help if you do a lot of fussy-cutting
  • Gesso – I like Liquitex but any brand will do
  • Glue – I used Golden Matt Medium but any strong glue will work
  • Acrylic paints – I used brown, gold & yellow
  • Paper is from The Whimsy Stack by DCWV
  • Glossy Accents for the flower
  • Stick Pin – mine is from Heidi Grace
  • Martha Stewart butterfly punch
  • Tulle – I sprayed it with glimmer mist and made a flower shape
  • Pearl for the center of the flower

Cluster Bead Necklace

0

Hey everyone!  I made these fun necklaces with bead clusters attached to different chains.  You’ll see them in more detail on the video, but I thought they would spice up a plain white tee or simple shirt nicely!  They’ll be for sale on my Etsy store shortly.  Hope you like them!

How to Use Cling Mount

0

Hey Everyone! Here’s a tutorial on how to convert your wood mounted rubber stamps to cling mount.  This is a great space saver and will also make it easier to organize your stamps.  I’ve switched over all of my wood mounted stamps to cling mount and love it!  It definitely is a commitment and takes awhile depending on how many stamps you own, but I worked on it over time and am so happy I did.

Let me know if you have any questions or would like more info! You can purchase sheets on my Ebay page and Etsy store, both of which are linked to the YouTube video.

Art Journal Pages and Ideas

1

Hey there! I thought I would show you guys some pages from my art journal.   I’ve been slowly working on this for the past 6 months probably, and need to actually journal in it lol!  I feel like I take so much time to do the pages and backgrounds that I hardly leave any time for the journaling part.  I love to try several different mediums, so you’ll see everything from molding paste, Tattered Angels products, ink pads, acrylic paints, and watercolors such as Caran D’ache crayons.  Even though these pages have a much cleaner look to them, I do like to experiment with different products and usages.

I hope this video helps give you ideas to use on your own journal pages!  You can definitely incorporate some of these into a tag, layout, or mixed media project.  Have a great day!

A Fun Layered 12×12 Layout

0

Hey Everyone!  I’m excited to show you this layout I did of me and my hubby on our way to Cancun!  I love how Drew (of Cardofmyeye on YouTube) layers so much on his layouts, I feel like it adds so much extra fun to the page.   This works well if you’re planning on putting your layout in a frame or shadow box to mount on the wall.  It might be a little hard to put this in an actual album just because it is so thick, but it’s definitely a fun technique to try!

I would love to see some examples of your layered up pages! Let me know if you have any questions or want me for. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Butterfly Stick Pins

1

Check out these adorable butterfly stick pins I made!

They’re made out of patterned paper and a stick pin that already has the pearl on the top.  They make great embellishments for your mini books and layouts, along with just wearing them to spice up an outfit! I love to tuck them behind flowers on my pages to give an extra bit of dimension and pop.   You can find them for sale on my Etsy shop with the link on the right.  Enjoy and have a great evening!
